Jamshedpur, July 17:  A cyclonic circulation which formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Odisha-Gangetic West Bengal coasts has turned into a low-pressure area which will impact weather conditions in Jharkhand and its neighbouring states during the next few days.

Weathermen said an associated cyclonic circulation was also extending up to mid-tropospheric levels tilting southwestwards with height.

It is likely to move west-northwestwards across Jharkhand during the next two days and this would result in light to moderate rain at several places across Jharkhand.

IMD’s Ranchi Met Centre also issued an alert of heavy rain especially in eastern Jharkhand around July 20, Thursday.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through Ganganagar, Narnaul, Aligarh, Varanasi, Daltonganj, centre of a low-pressure area over north Odisha and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand and thence southeastwards to east-central Bay of Bengal extending upto 1.5 Km above mean sea level.

Weathermen said another cyclonic circulation is likely to form over the Northwest Bay of Bengal around July 18.

Meanwhile, Jharkhand’s rain deficit as of today stood at 42 per cent. Statistics suggested that against a normal of 348 mm, the state has so far received 202 mm resulting in such a huge rain deficit.
