Ramgarh, July 21: Giridih MP Chandra Prakash Choudhary has urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to include the Kudmali language in Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.  He made this demand after meeting him in New Delhi.

The Giridih MP apprised him that the Kudmali language is spoken by Kudmis of Jharkhand, Bihar, Bengal and Odisha states.  The language is taught in six universities including five in the state and one in West Bengal.

He said that this is very partial and complete injustice.  It is very disappointing for more than 2 crore Kudmali language speakers.  This is playing with the future of those lakhs of Kudmali students.  It belongs to the Indo-Aryan language family and has its own script called “Kurmi Kudali” which is a modified version of the Devanagari script.  The Kudmi community has been demanding for a long time that the Kudmali language be included in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.  He also handed over a memorandum related to the demands to the Union Home Minister.
