Hazaribag, July 24: Senior BJP leader and party’s state executive member, Bateshwar Prasad Mehta today said if K.B Women’s College does not start taking admissions of girls in intermediate, then he will soon sit on fast unto death outside its main entrance gate.
He said Chief Minister Hemant Soren has given his nod to run the intermediate courses in degree colleges but K.B Women’s College is not following the order. Even the higher education director has also asked colleges to follow the government’s order in this regard but still, process has not started here.
Mehta demanded that the Vice Chancellor and the Registrar of Vinoba Bhave University also instruct the principals of various colleges to follow the government’s order.
“I protest against the principal of KB Mahila Mahavidyalaya for not starting admission in Inter for some personal issues. If the admission in inter is not started by the principal as soon as possible, then I will sit on fast unto death,” he announced.
Mehta who protested for an hour at the gate of the college said that he has been an educationist. “I have always raised my voice for the welfare of the students and will continue to do so. I understand the pain of the girl students and parents here. Most of the children of poor labourers and farmers study here after taking admission. I strongly condemn the principal for depriving girl students of intermediate studies in the college and forcing parents to spend more than fifteen thousand per year in private colleges instead of just Rs 2500 per year at this college”. He said he is aware of the irregularities in the college. “I will expose it. I will demand a high-level inquiry from Governor,” he added.
Sources said due to the implementation of the new education policy, there is a UGC guideline to stop intermediate studies in degree colleges. But in view of the problems faced by a large number of students who have passed matriculation and in the absence of alternative arrangements, Chief Minister Hemant Soren had ordered the continuation of intermediate studies in all constituent degree colleges on June 29. Due to this intermediate studies have been continued in all constituent colleges of the state as before. But the KB Mahila Mahavidyalaya administration has not yet started the enrollment process. This is the only girls’ college in the district known for its ambience and better studies.
