Jamshedpur, July 25:  A weak monsoon would result in light rain in southern and central Jharkhand today, said Meteorological officials at IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre.

Whereas the Met Centre has predicted light to moderate rain in isolated parts of the state tomorrow, Wednesday.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through Dessa, Indore, Damoh, Pendra Road, Gopalpur and thence east-southeastwards to east-central Bay of Bengal and extending upto 1.5 km above mean sea level.

The cyclonic circulation over the west-central and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal was today lying on the west-central and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh- south Odisha coast extending up to 7.6 km above the mean sea level tilting southwards with height.

Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the same region during the next 24 hours.

The system is likely to concentrate into a depression over the same region around July 26. Subsequently, it is likely to move slowly west- northwestwards across north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coasts.

Meanwhile, currently, Jharkhand as a whole was facing a rain deficit of 46 per cent. As per Met statistics against a normal of 434.7 mm, the state has so far ever since the onset of monsoon received 236.3 mm of rain, a deficit of 46 per cent.
