Baramulla, July 25: Two terrorists connected to the outlawed Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) organisation, based in Pakistan, had been detained at a bus stop in Kreeri village of Baramulla district, officials announced on Tuesday.
Officials identified Dayem Majeed Khan and Ubair Tariq as the two linkmen or facilitators of terrorism.
“On specific information regarding the movement of terrorists in Kreeri, Joint forces of Baramulla Police and 29 RR placed an MVCP at a Bus Stop. Two suspect persons who were coming from towards the main road Kreeri tried to flee while noticing a joint naka party but were apprehended tactfully,” the official statement read.
The terrorist associates also admitted to having ties to the LeT, according to the police, and said they gathered weapons and ammo for targeted killing in the Baramulla district.
They had two pistols made in China, two pistol magazines, 14 live pistol rounds, one ID card and one Aadhar card photocopy recovered from them.
“Both are in custody. A case under Indian Arms Act and UAPA was registered in Police Station Kreeri,” the statement informed further.
