New Delhi, July 26: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Wednesday approved the no-confidence motion brought by Congress member Gaurav Gogoi against the government for discussion. With the acceptance of this proposal presented by Deputy Leader of Congress Gaurav Gogoi in the House, the Lok Sabha Speaker said that he will hold talks with the leaders of all the parties and inform about the date of discussion on it.
During the Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha, Birla said, “I have to inform the House that a request has been received from Gaurav Gogoi for a no-confidence motion in the Council of Ministers under Rule 198… Please you (Gogoi) get the permission of the House”. After this, Gogoi said, “I want the permission of the House for the following proposal – This House shows lack of confidence in the Council of Ministers”.
Earlier in the Lok Sabha today, members of the opposition parties created a ruckus on the issue of Manipur violence. Due to their sloganeering, the proceedings of the House were adjourned till 12 noon after about 15 minutes.
