Dhanbad July 27: A coal rag picker identified as Parmeswar Chouhan (40) fell in a Jharia mines fire deep Goaf ( hole) near Gandhi Chabutra Area under the Dhanuadih OP, around 17 km away from here, on Friday afternoon.
Though no one saw Paresh Chouhan falling, his family members identified him from a burnt shirt trapped in the mines fire hole and feared he might have slipped in it.
After getting information, Ghanuadih OP officer in-charge Mukesh Kumar and the coal company (Bharat Coking Coal Limited ) local officers reached the spot but returned soon having found no trace of the body. No rescue operation was launched till filing the report.
Since the hole is very deep, local people feel there is little chance of survival in the fire bowl if he fell into it.
Parmeswar Chouhan used to pick up coal in the area for the livelihood of the family. It is said he was also a drug addict and might have fallen in the course of picking coal. Two-day ago he was seen roaming in the area.
Ramu Chouhan, father of Parmeswar Chouhan after getting information about the incident at around 3 pm reached the spot with his family members and identified the burnt shirt of his son trapped in the hole.
