Chatra, July 31: With the death of two newly born coming from Kunda block after C-sections of two women were done by a quack, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abu Imran is now strict on the operation of illegal nursing homes in the district. A complaint was received through the media that a nursing home, namely Mamta Nursing Home, is being operated in the Kunda block area where women were admitted for delivery and the incident of birth of two dead children has come to light on different dates during delivery.

After getting this news, Imran directed the Civil Surgeon of Chatra Shyam Nandan Singh to investigate and take action as soon as possible. Imran said that action should be taken against those who violate the clinical establishment act and are operating nursing homes illegally in the district.

As per the instructions of Imran, the investigation was done by the In-Charge Medical Officer of Pratappur and Block Development Officer (BDO) Kunda. After investigation, Kunda block development officer Khagesh Kumar informed that on July 24 Manati Devi (wife of Brajesh Ganjhu) age 20 years and on July 25 Kiran Devi (wife of Vishwanath Ganjhu), 28 years, both residents of village Hesatu in Kunda were admitted for delivery. Manati Devi’s C-section delivery was done on July 24 in which a dead child was born whereas Kiran Devi’s C-section was done on July 25 and her child also died.

Kumar said during the investigation, it has been found that Mamta nursing home is not registered in any way under the Jharkhand Clinical Establishment Act. An FIR has been lodged in the Kunda police station against the nursing home operator who is a quack named Jitendra Kumar Yadav and further action is being taken as per the rules.
