Jamshedpur, Aug 4: IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre forecasted light to moderate rain at a few places over Jharkhand today.
No weather alerts have been issued for the next 48 hours.
The depression over north Chhattisgarh and the neighbourhood moved west northwestwards and lay centred over the same region near latitude 23.5°N and longitude 83.1°E, about 40 km north-northwest of Ambikapur (Chhattisgarh) and 160 Km south-southeast of Sidhi (East Madhya Pradesh).
It is likely to move northwestwards towards northeast Madhya Pradesh and adjoining southeast Uttar Pradesh and weaken into a well-marked low-pressure area.
The monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through Amritsar, Karnal, Meerut, Hamirpur, center of depression over north Chhattisgarh, Balasore and thence eastwards to Northeast Bay of Bengal.
Statistics revealed that the rain deficit stood at 36% in Jharkhand as of today. Against the normal of 538 mm, Jharkhand has so far received 344 mm of rain.
