New Delhi, Aug 9: Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, thanked Rahul Gandhi, and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday for their assistance in opposing and voting against the GNCTD (Amendment) Bill, 2023.

“I write to you expressing gratitude on behalf of the 2 crore people of Delhi for your party’s support in rejecting and voting against the GNCTD (Amendment) Bill, 2023,” Kejriwal wrote in a letter to Kharge and Gandhi.

“I would like to place on record the heartfelt appreciation for championing the rights of the people of Delhi inside as well as outside the Parliament. I am certain that your unflinching loyalty towards the principle of our Constitution will be remembers for decades,” Kejriwal said.

He further said, “we look forward to your continued support in the fight against forces that are undermining the Constitution.”

On August 7, the National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023, which replaces an ordinance issued by the Center for managing official transfers and postings within the Delhi government, was passed.

The Bill giving the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi charge over Group A services in Delhi, including decisions about appointments, transfers, and postings, was approved by the Upper House on Monday. After a vote in which 102 MPs opposed the legislation and 131 supported it, the bill was passed.
