Jamshedpur, Aug 16: Many places across Jharkhand are likely to experience light to moderate rain today, said a Met office forecast.
Weathermen at IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre said that thunderstorms and lightning are also expected in a few isolated places.
The monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through Firozpur, Rohtak, Meerut, Gorakhpur, Supaul, Cooch Behar and thence eastwards towards Nagaland.
The cyclonic circulation over south Bangladesh and the neighbourhood extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height persists.
Light to moderate rain was observed at many places over the state during the past 24 hours.
The state’s rain deficit as of today stood at 38 per cent. Against a normal of 658 mm, the state has so far received 410 mm, a deficit of 38 per cent.
