Dhanbad, Aug 20: Senior Congress leader and INTUC (Indian National Trade Union Congress) state secretary Suresh Chandra Jha has lodged a complaint against the party’s district president Santosh Singh in Chirkunda police station around 38 km away from the district headquarters for abusing and threatening dire consequence over proposed hunger strike in Ranchi scheduled tomorrow.
In his complaint to the Chirkunda police station, Suresh Chandra Jha has alleged that Congress district president Santosh Singh called him at 8.35 pm and asked to call off the proposed hunger strike at Ranchi Congress headquarters.
“He abused me and threatened dire consequences if I do not cancel my agitation. He even challenged me on how would I be able to reach Ranch,i” said Jha.
Suresh Chandra Jha has announced to sit on indefinite hunger strike at Ranchi Congress state headquarters for unlocking Luby Circular Road based Dhanbad party office that has been closed since April 2011. Jha said state leaders are not interested to open the office set up in 1954.
Dhanbad district Congress president Santosh Singh refuted the allegation and told media persons that Suresh Chandra Jha has been doing it being misguided by someone.
This is the first time in Dhanbad that a leader has filed a complaint against the party president. “I have been an active member of the party since 1974 but no district president misbehaved in such a way that too for organizational matter. Moreover, it is unfortunate that our party is in government notwithstanding the party office at Dhanbad has been closed for 12 years”, said Jha.
Chirkunda police station officer in-charge Sunil Kumar Singh admitted that he has received a complaint from Suresh Chandra Jha and the matter is being investigated.
