Jamshedpur, Aug 25: In a momentous event that celebrated courage, resilience and the spirit of triumph, the poster unveiling, first look and screening of the documentary titled ‘Bachendri Pal: An Angel of the Himalaya’ took place at the Kudy Mahanty Auditorium in Jamshedpur last evening.
The occasion was graced by the presence of the legendary figure Bachendri Pal, the first Indian woman to conquer the summit of Mount Everest. Also present were Hemant Gupta, Head of Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF) and Sports, Tata Steel.
The event witnessed a vibrant gathering that included faculties and students from renowned educational institutions in Jamshedpur, rural children from our grassroot community development centres in and around Jamshedpur, as well as avid mountaineering enthusiasts.
The documentary directed by Susanto Das, captured the inspiring journey of Bachendri Pal, tracing her life from her humble beginnings to the pinnacle of her achievements.
The documentary delved into significant milestones including the remarkable 1984 expedition that saw Bachendri Pal become the first Indian woman to conquer Mount Everest.
It showcased her audacious 2007 Desert Safari expedition and the historic 1997 Indo-Nepalese All-Women expedition, along with her transformative ‘Mission Gange’ initiative.
The film also beautifully highlighted how Bachendri Pal’s indomitable spirit and achievements have acted as a beacon of inspiration for countless women across the nation.
Her journey resonates with empowerment, breaking barriers and setting an example of boundless determination.
Speaking about the documentary, Bachendri Pal said, “This documentary is not just about me, but about the relentless spirit of all women who dare to dream big and reach for the skies.”
The screening of ‘Bachendri Pal: An Angel of the Himalaya’ left the audience enthralled, applauding not only the achievements of the remarkable mountaineer but also the collective spirit of determination that it embodies.
