Daltonganj, Aug 26: All vehicular traffic negotiating 13 special railway level crossing at Kutchery road will be shut for 24 hours beginning August 26 evening to August 27 evening.

This is to enable the engineering crew of the Rail Vikas Nigam Limited to mend the concrete road on both sides of the railway boom by at least 10 meters each.

This mending of the road is necessitated following the third railway line crossing through it.

Project Director and Senior DGM N K Mishra of the Rail Vikas Nigam Limited first wrote a letter to the SDM Medininagar seeking permission to mend the roads on both sides of the railway booms at railway level crossing 13 for which the official asked for a complete block of all kinds of the vehicular traffic for 24 hours beginning evening of August 26 to the evening of August 27.

The SDM, accordingly, permitted the Rail Vikas Nigam Limited to carry on the work within the stipulated period of time when vehicular traffic here through this railway crossing will be completely off.

Senior section engineer for the Rail Vikas Nigam Limited Iftekhar Islam said although the road traffic will remain shut through this railway level crossing there will be no issue of such with the rail traffic on all the three railway tracks here. The entire rail traffic will be smooth and scheduled one.

Daltonganj railway station superintendent Umesh Kumar said this mending of the road on both sides of the booms is important for safety purpose as enterprising bikers crane out their neck and bike and quite illegally and unauthorisedly go from this end of the boom to the other end of the boom.

Umesh Kumar further said as there are 3 tracks now the frequency of the trains is increasing and hence caution and care at the railway level crossing is a must.
