New Delhi, Sept 2: The White House has announced that US President Joe Biden is scheduled to visit India next week to attend the G20 Summit. During his trip, he will also engage in a one-on-one meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 8, which will take place alongside the significant summit.

India, as the current President of the G20, is set to host a Summit in New Delhi on September 9 and 10, where leaders from around the world will convene.

The White House has stated that President Biden will express his appreciation for Prime Minister Modi’s leadership of the G20 during the Summit.

“On Thursday (September 7), the President will travel to New Delhi, India to attend the G20 Leaders’ Summit. On Friday, the President will participate in a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” the statement by the White House read.

The White House said that both presidents will work to lessen the negative effects of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine on the economy and society as well as strengthen the ability of multilateral development banks, including the World Bank, to more effectively combat poverty by tackling global issues.

“While in New Delhi, the President will also commend Prime Minister Modi’s leadership of the G20 and reaffirm the US commitment to the G20 as the premier forum of economic cooperation, including by hosting it in 2026,” it said.
