New Delhi, Sept 10: British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshara visited the Akshardham Temple. Here, the chief priest of the Swaminarayan Temple got both of them worshipped. Rishi and his wife stayed in the temple for 45 minutes. Rishi Sunak and Akshata were given a model gift of the temple. Strict security arrangements were made outside Akshardham regarding Rishi Sunak’s arrival. After leaving the temple, Sunak went straight to Rajghat and paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi.
Rishi Sunak had said on Saturday itself that he would go to Akshardham temple. He had said that he is proud to be a Hindu. This is the way he was brought up and this is the way he is. He celebrated Raksha Bandhan but due to lack of time, he could not celebrate Janmashtami. But hopefully, this will be compensated by visiting a temple. It is faith that gives us strength.
Akshardham Temple is the world’s largest Hindu temple. It showcases Indian culture, civilization, and spirituality. The temple offers glimpses of Indian heritage that are thousands of years old. Inside Akshardham Temple, there are idols of Lord Swaminarayan, Lakshmi-Narayan, Shiva-Parvati, Radha-Krishna, and Sita-Ram. Every year, around 1 million people visit the temple for darshan (worship).
