TMH meet in Bokaro unites medical experts for knowledge sharing

Jamshedpur, Sept 23: The Clinical Society’s half yearly conference of Tata Main Hospital (TMH) was held at West Bokaro on September 22-23.

The conference brought together around 85 doctors from Tata Main Hospital, Jamshedpur and Raw Materials locations like West Bokaro, Noamundi, Joda, Jamadoba, Haldia and medical experts from Medanta Hospital, Gurgaon, AIIMS and Tata Manipal Medical College, Jamshedpur.

The objective of the conference was to share knowledge and latest techniques in medical science amongst all. This year’s theme was “Basics and Beyond Bridging the gaps.”

The conference was graced by Chanakya Choudhury, Vice President Corporate Services, Tata Steel as chief guest and D B Sundara Ramam, Vice President, Raw Materials, Tata Steel as guest of honour at the inaugural function.

Anurag Dixit, General Manager, West Bokaro Division, Tata Steel, Dr. A K Roy, Chief Medical Officer, Tata Central Hospital, West Bokaro Division, and Dr. J Pati, In-charge of scientific programme were present on this occasion.

The conference was  beneficial for doctors associated with Tata Steel in all its operating locations.

The conference helped in understanding the issues and bridging the gap between Tata Main Hospital and hospitals in other operating locations of Tata Steel.

The two-day conference started with a keynote address by Sudhir Rai, General Manager, Medical Services, Jamshedpur.

He spoke on the importance of communication in today’s medical practice. Prof G Pradeep Kumar, Dean, Tata Manipal Medical College, Jamshedpur chaired the session as a special invitee.

This was followed by presentation of MBBS papers, DNB posters, specialist presentations and a panel discussion on various controversies and emerging treatment protocols.

Eminent guest speakers, Dr. Umesh Bhadani, Dean, AIIMS Patna spoke about electrolyte balance in elderly patients and Dr. Asaf Belal, Thoracic surgeon from Medanta Hospital, Gurgaon spoke about innovations in thoracic surgery from empyema to lung transplantation.

The conference included presentations from Heads of Departments of Tata Main Hospital on latest techniques and challenges faced in emergency management by doctors of Raw Material locations.

Burning issues like Dengue fever and its complications were discussed in detail by the medical experts at the conference.
