New Delhi, Sept 24: Due to continuous rain for two days in Maharashtra, a flood-like situation has arisen in many areas. According to Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, NDRF-SDRF teams are carrying out the rescue operation. He said that till now more than 500 people have been rescued and taken to safe places.
Two army units have been deployed for rescue operations in Nagpur. On Saturday, 100 mm of rain was recorded here in just 4 hours. IMD has predicted rain in many cities of Maharashtra including Nagpur today and tomorrow.
Apart from this, IMD has expressed the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in Bihar-Jharkhand, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Northeast India for the next two days. They also said that from September 25, the southwest monsoon will start withdrawing from the western areas of Rajasthan. IMD says that the new system is becoming active in many states of the country.
According to IMD, the monsoon quota has been completed in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Delhi. Between May 1 and 22, there was 927.5 mm rainfall in Madhya Pradesh and 532.3 mm rainfall in Delhi (more than average rainfall). The effect of the new system becoming active is also visible in Bihar and red alert for rain is issued in four districts and a yellow alert is issued in seven districts.
There is a possibility of heavy rain in West Bengal, Sikkim of Eastern India on 24th September and in Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Andaman and Nicobar Islands till 27th September. It has been said that there will be rain in many parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya today.
