MBBS admission: State quota seats filled up in three Jharkhand medical colleges

Dhanbad, Sept 25: The MBBS seats under the State quota in the state government-owned three medical colleges out of five were filled up after the completion of the third round of admission which concluded on September 21.

A senior official of the state health department’s medical education wing said that two MBBS seats of state quota remain vacant, one at Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad and another at Mahatma Gandhi  Memorial Medical College Hospital (MGMMCH) Jamshedpur.

The State government-owned five medical colleges have 100 MBBS seats each, of which  83 seats are reserved under the state quota, 15 under the all-India quota and two for central nominees in each institution.

After completion of the third round of admission under the state quota, all 83 seats were filled up at  Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College Hospital (SBMCH) Hazaribagh, Mednirai Medical College Hospital (MNCH) Palamu and  Phulo Jhano Medical College Hospital (PJMCH) Dumka.

SBMCH principal Dr SK Singh said that a total of 98 seats out of 100 have been filled up. The Central nominee’s seats have also been filled. “Now only two seats under the all-India quota are vacant and that will be filled up in a stray round,” he said.

At MMCH Palamu only one seat under the all-India quota is vacant. According to admission in-charge Dr Atul Prakash, a total of 99 candidates have taken admission. Only one seat under the all-India quota out of 15 is vacant in his institution.

Four seats under the all-India quota also remained vacant at PJMCH Dumka. Principal Dr Arun Kumar Choudhary, when contacted, said that all 83 seats under the state quota and two central nominees have been filled up. Only four seats under the all-India quota out of 15 are vacant and they expect it would be filled up in the stray round.

At SNMMCH, after completion of the third round of admission under the state quota, 82 candidates took admission and one seat remains vacant. Admission in-charge Dr Ganesh Kumar said a total of 96 students have taken admission. One seat under the state quota and three seats under the all-India quota are vacant.

The highest of six MBBS seats are vacant at MGMMCH Jamshedpur. Principal Dr KN Singh said a total of 94 students have taken admission. One seat under the state quota and five seats under the all-India quota are still vacant.

As per the National Medical Commission, admission will be taken only till September 30.
