Ranchi, Oct 1: In a remarkable display of commitment to cleanliness and environmental consciousness, students of Delhi Public School (DPS) Ranchi took the lead in the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva 2023’ campaign by organizing a large-scale cleanliness drive in the city. The event, held on Sunday, saw more than 60 students of classes VIII to XII come together to make their city cleaner and more supportable.
The ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign is a nationwide initiative aimed at promoting cleanliness and hygiene across India. Commemorating the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, the campaign is organized by the Government of India to encourage citizens to actively participate in cleanliness activities and raise awareness about the importance of cleanliness for a healthier and more sustainable future.
DPS Ranchi students embraced this initiative with immense enthusiasm. The cleanliness drive began at 10 a.m. in the morning as students and teachers gathered at BirsaChowk and Hatia Railway Station road. Armed with brooms, dustbins, garbage bags and a strong sense of purpose, they set out to clean streets and public areas. Even heavy rains could not dampen the spirit of these enthusiastic children. The students actively engaged with local residents, educating them about the importance of keeping the environment clean and green.
Speaking about the initiative, Dr Ram Singh, Principal of DPS Ranchi, said, “Our students have always been at the forefront when it comes to social and environmental initiatives. The ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign is an excellent platform for them to actively contribute to the cleanliness and well-being of our city. We are proud of their dedication and commitment to making a difference. The ‘Swachhata Hi Seva 2023’ campaign at DPS Ranchi was not only a one-day event but part of a sustained effort to instil a sense of responsibility towards cleanliness and environmental protection among the students.”
The exemplary initiative taken by DPS Ranchi students serves as a shining example of how young minds are actively contributing to the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ (Clean India Movement) and making a positive change in their society. It is a testament to the power of youth-led movements in shaping a cleaner and more sustainable future for India.
