New Delhi, Oct 11: In connection with a case involving causing disturbances during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bihar last year, the NIA conducted raids at multiple places in six states on Wednesday, officials stated.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) assumed control of the case filed by the Phulwari Sharif police station in Patna in July 2022. This case pertained to members of the Popular Front of India (PFI) allegedly conspiring to cause disruptions during the Prime Minister’s visit, they stated.

The national investigative agency conducted search operations in various states, such as Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Delhi.

An NIA unit carried out search operations at the residence of Abdul Wahid Shaikh in Mumbai’s Vikhroli area in Maharashtra.

Shaikh was an accused in the 2006 railway bombing case, but he was absolved of all charges by a trial court.

Search operations were additionally carried out in locations such as Tonk, Kota, and Gangapur in Rajasthan, as well as in Hauz Kaji and Ballimaran within the national capital.

Due to the PFI’s alleged involvement in terrorism, the government banned it in September 2022.
