New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu has announced the appointment of new governors in nine states and a new Lieutenant Governor for Puducherry, marking a significant reshuffling of key political roles across India.
Former Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde has been appointed as the Governor of Rajasthan, while former Tripura Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma will now serve as the Governor of Telangana.
The President has also appointed former Rajya Sabha MP Om Prakash Mathur as the Governor of Sikkim. Former Union Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar has been named the Governor of Jharkhand, and former Lok Sabha MP from Assam Ramen Deka will assume the role of Governor of Chhattisgarh.
Former Karnataka Minister CH Vijayashankar has been appointed as the Governor of Meghalaya. CP Radhakrishnan, currently serving as the Governor of Jharkhand, will take over as the Governor of Maharashtra.
Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria has been appointed as the Governor of Punjab and will also serve as the Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh. Sikkim Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya has been appointed as the Governor of Assam, with additional responsibilities as the Governor of Manipur.
In Puducherry, former IAS officer K Kailashnathan has been appointed as the new Lieutenant Governor.
