Dubai: Pavel Durov, the Russian-origin co-founder and CEO of Telegram, recently made headlines by revealing that he has over 100 biological children in 12 different countries. Durov shared this surprising information on Telegram, detailing how he became a “biological father” through sperm donation.
In his Telegram post, Durov wrote, “I was just told that I have over 100 biological kids. How is this possible for a guy who has never been married and prefers to live alone?” He then explained how it all began 15 years ago when a friend asked him to donate sperm due to fertility issues. Initially amused, Durov eventually took the request seriously and donated sperm at a clinic.
During his visit to the clinic, Durov was informed that he was “high-quality donor material,” which motivated him to continue donating sperm to help couples worldwide. Although he has since stopped donating, an IVF clinic still holds his frozen sperm, which can be used anonymously by families.
Durov expressed his intention to open-source his DNA to make it easier for his biological children to connect with each other. Despite the risks, he does not regret his decision, emphasizing the global shortage of healthy sperm and his pride in contributing to alleviating this issue.
His goal is to destigmatize sperm donation and encourage more healthy men to participate. He concluded his post with, “Defy convention — redefine the norm!”
According to Forbes, the 39-year-old entrepreneur resides in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. At 22, Durov created Russia’s largest social network, Vkontakte.
