New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his three-day visit to the United States on Saturday to participate in the Quad Leaders’ Summit and address the ‘Summit of the Future’ at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). The visit is expected to further enhance India-US relations and strengthen multilateral ties within the Quad framework.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi expressed his enthusiasm for the visit, stating, “I will be on a visit to USA, where I will take part in various programs. I will attend the Quad Summit being hosted by President Biden in Wilmington and also address the Summit of the Future in New York.”

Key Agendas of PM Modi’s Visit:

  1. Quad Leaders’ Summit (September 21):
PM Modi will participate in the fourth Quad Summit, hosted by US President Joe Biden in Wilmington, Delaware. The summit will include discussions with leaders from the US, Japan, and Australia on key issues such as security, economic partnerships, and regional cooperation.
  2. Bilateral Meeting with President Joe Biden:
PM Modi will hold a bilateral meeting with President Biden to review and explore new avenues to deepen the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership. The discussions will focus on cooperation in technology, defense, and global issues of mutual interest.
  3. Address to the Indian Community (September 22):
PM Modi will engage with the Indian diaspora in the US, highlighting their role as key stakeholders in the partnership between India and the US. The Prime Minister will also address American business leaders to discuss collaborations in AI, quantum computing, semiconductors, and biotechnology.
  4. CEO Roundtable:
PM Modi will meet with CEOs of leading US-based companies to foster greater collaboration in cutting-edge technologies and bolster economic ties between the two nations.
  5. Summit of the Future at UNGA (September 23):

Speculations About Meeting with Donald Trump

Amid speculations regarding a potential meeting between PM Modi and former US President Donald Trump, the Ministry of External Affairs has not confirmed any details. Trump had recently expressed his eagerness to meet PM Modi, calling him a “fantastic leader.” However, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stated that “many meetings are still being scheduled,” and further updates would be provided.

The visit is being closely watched for its potential to deepen the strategic partnership between India and the US, while also enhancing cooperation within the Quad framework for regional stability and prosperity.
