Kulgam: In a significant clash in the Adigam village of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday, three Army personnel and one police officer sustained injuries in an intense gunfight with militants. The security forces are currently engaged in an ongoing operation, with reports indicating that two militants remain trapped in the area.
Acting on credible intelligence regarding militant presence in the Devsar area, security forces launched a comprehensive search operation, which led to the exchange of gunfire. The injured personnel were immediately transported to the hospital, and their condition is being closely monitored.

The Kashmir Police Zone confirmed the operation through social media, stating, “The encounter has started in Adigam Devsar area. Security forces are on the job, further updates will follow.”
Recent Encounters in Jammu and Kashmir
This latest encounter follows a series of militant clashes in Jammu and Kashmir, coinciding with the region’s first Assembly elections in a decade. Just earlier this month, several encounters were reported across districts like Poonch, Baramulla, and Kishtwar, with multiple casualties on both sides. These incidents highlight ongoing challenges in the region as security forces strive to maintain peace amid election activities.
The last and final phase of polling is set for October 1, with the results due to be declared on October 8.
