Srinagar: A doctor and six construction workers were tragically killed in a terrorist attack at a construction site in Gagangir, Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir. The victims were non-local labourers working on an under-construction tunnel when terrorists opened fire on their camp. The area has since been cordoned off by the police and army as security forces launch a manhunt to track down the attackers.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah condemned the attack, calling it a “dastardly and cowardly” act. In a post on X, he extended his prayers for the injured, some of whom are being referred to SKIMS, Srinagar, for further treatment.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police confirmed the incident through a post on X, stating: “Terror incident in Gagangeer, Ganderbal. Area cordoned off by security forces. Further details shall follow.”

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also expressed his outrage over the attack, describing it as “horrific.” In his post on X, Gadkari said the labourers were engaged in a critical infrastructure project and offered condolences to the families of those killed. “I strongly condemn the horrific terror attack on innocent labourers in Gagangir, Sonamarg, Jammu & Kashmir, who were engaged in a vital infrastructure project,” Gadkari wrote.

The incident has sparked widespread condemnation, with both political leaders and citizens mourning the loss of innocent lives.
