Ranchi: The INDIA Alliance unveiled its election manifesto on Tuesday, committing to seven major guarantees aimed at promoting regional development and social welfare in Jharkhand. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Chief Minister Hemant Soren, RJD leader Jayaprakash Yadav, and leaders from various alliance partners were present at the event.
INDIA Alliance’s Seven Key Guarantees
- Local Policy Based on 1932 Land Records and Sarna Religion Code: The alliance promises a local policy based on 1932 land records, the implementation of the Sarna Religion Code, and initiatives to protect regional language and cultural heritage.
- Maiyaan Samman Yojana: Starting December 2024, the alliance pledges a monthly allowance of ₹2,500 for eligible individuals under this welfare scheme.
- Reservation for SC, ST, OBC, and Minorities: The manifesto includes a commitment to 28% reservation for Scheduled Tribes, 12% for Scheduled Castes, and 27% for Other Backward Classes, with protections for minorities. Plans for a Ministry for Backward Class Welfare have also been announced.
- Enhanced Ration Distribution & Subsidized LPG: Each individual will receive 7 kg of ration, and LPG cylinders will be available to economically disadvantaged families at ₹450.
- Employment and Health Insurance: Promises include job opportunities for 10 lakh youths and health insurance coverage of up to ₹15 lakh per family.
- Education and Industrial Development: The alliance plans to establish degree colleges in each block, medical and engineering colleges in district headquarters, and 500-acre industrial parks in every district to boost employment and industrial growth.
- Increased Minimum Support Price (MSP) for Farmers: MSP for paddy will be raised from ₹2,400 to ₹3,200, with a 50% increase in support prices for forest products like lac, tasar, tamarind, mahua, chironji, and sal seeds.
