New Delhi: Prominent leaders from India’s royal lineages, including Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, have strongly criticized Rahul Gandhi over his recent article. Scindia, in a pointed response, remarked that individuals who “sell hatred” should refrain from lecturing others on Indian pride and history.

Scindia’s remarks, shared on platform X (formerly Twitter), accused Gandhi of having a “colonial mindset” and failing to grasp the essence of Bharat’s rich heritage. He urged Gandhi to respect true Indian heroes rather than “insulting Bharat Mata.”

“Those who sell hatred have no right to lecture on Indian pride and history. @RahulGandhi’s ignorance about Bharat’s rich heritage and his colonial mindset have crossed all limits. If you claim to ‘uplift’ the nation, stop insulting Bharat Mata and learn about true Indian heroes like Mahadji Scindia, Yuvraj Bir Tikendrajit, Kittur Chennamma, and Rani Velu Nachiyar, who fiercely fought for our freedom,” Scindia posted.

Highlighting Gandhi’s privileged background, Scindia suggested it underscored his disconnect from real Indian struggles. “Your selective amnesia about your own privilege is a disservice to those truly striving against adversity. Your dissonance only exposes Congress’ agenda further—Rahul Gandhi is no champion of Atmanirbhar Bharat; he is merely a product of an outdated entitlement,” he wrote, adding that only under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership have stories of true Indian warriors gained recognition.

Rajasthan’s deputy chief minister and BJP leader, Divya Kumari, also condemned Gandhi’s editorial, stating, “The dream of integrated India was only possible because of the utmost sacrifice of the erstwhile royal families of India. Baseless allegations made on the basis of half-baked interpretation of historical facts is completely unacceptable.”

Gandhi’s opinion piece in The Indian Express argued that India’s silence under the East India Company stemmed from the oppressive control wielded by alliances with, bribery, and threats to pliant rulers.

Responding to this, Lok Sabha MP Yaduveer Wadiyar highlighted Gandhi’s historical ignorance. “His latest statement, via an article this morning, reflects his ignorance of the contributions made by the erstwhile princely states towards today’s Bharat… and most importantly, the sacrifices they made towards the formation of a unified India. I strongly condemn his choice of words in the article,” Wadiyar posted.
