New Delhi: DPS Dwarka, a private school in southwest Delhi, received a bomb threat early on Friday, triggering swift emergency action by the Delhi Police and Fire Services. As a precautionary measure, classes were shifted to online mode, ensuring students’ safety.

The threat call was made at 5:02 am, alerting authorities about a possible bomb in the school’s Sector 23 premises. Emergency teams, including the Delhi Fire Services, immediately reached the site to conduct investigations.

Rising Incidents of School Bomb Threats in Delhi

The incident at DPS Dwarka is part of a concerning trend of bomb threats targeting schools in the national capital. Earlier this month, several schools faced similar threats:

•December 13: 30 schools in Delhi received hoax bomb threat emails, traced to sources outside India.

•December 14: A private school student from Paschim Vihar was identified as the sender of a bomb threat email. The student confessed, was counseled, and released with a warning.

Authorities’ Response and Concerns

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal expressed grave concerns over the psychological and academic impact of these recurring threats on students. “Such incidents disrupt children’s education and mental health,” he said.

In light of the increasing threats, the Delhi High Court directed the government and police to establish a comprehensive Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for bomb threats and emergency management. The court set an eight-week deadline for implementing these measures.
