New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has emerged as India’s richest Chief Minister with assets worth over ₹931 crore, according to the latest report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR). The report also highlights that Naidu has liabilities amounting to ₹10 crore, while his personal income stands at ₹18 lakh annually.
Pema Khandu of Arunachal Pradesh ranks second with assets exceeding ₹332 crore, followed by Karnataka’s Siddaramaiah with assets worth ₹51 crore.
Mamata Banerjee Declared with Least Assets
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is reported to have the least assets, valued at just over ₹15 lakh, with no liabilities. Her personal annual income also stands at ₹15 lakh. Jammu & Kashmir’s Omar Abdullah follows with ₹55 lakh, and Kerala’s Pinarayi Vijayan ranks third from the bottom with assets of ₹31 lakh.
Hemant Soren Among Top 10 Richest CMs
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren is also among India’s top 10 richest Chief Ministers, holding assets worth over ₹25 crore with liabilities of ₹3 crore. His personal annual income is ₹20 lakh.
Average CM Wealth: ₹52.59 Crore
The ADR report states that the average assets of Chief Ministers across state legislatures and union territories amount to ₹52.59 crore. Collectively, the 31 CMs in the report own assets worth ₹1,630 crore. Of these, two Chief Ministers are billionaires.
Notably, only two women feature among the 31 Chief Ministers: West Bengal’s Mamata Banerjee and Delhi’s Atishi.
Criminal Cases Against 42% of CMs
The report highlights that 13 of the 31 Chief Ministers (42%) have declared criminal cases against themselves, with 10 facing serious charges like attempted murder, kidnapping, and criminal intimidation.
Key Age Statistics
• 1 CM is aged between 31-40 years.
• 7 are aged 41-50 years.
• 12 fall in the 51-60 age bracket.
• 5 are aged 61-70 years.
• 6 are between 71-80 years.
