Srinagar: Six soldiers sustained injuries following a landmine blast in the forward areas of Nowshera in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district earlier today.
The incident occurred around 10:45 AM when one of the soldiers inadvertently stepped on a landmine, triggering the explosion, as reported by PTI. The injured soldiers were immediately evacuated to a hospital, where they are reported to be in a stable condition.
The forward areas of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly along the Line of Control, are often dotted with landmines deployed as part of anti-infiltration measures. These landmines serve as a defense mechanism against cross-border intrusions but occasionally lead to accidents involving security personnel.
The region remains tense, with security forces maintaining heightened vigilance to counter potential threats along the border.
