JSCA Election Must Be Transparent and Free from Official Interference: Babulal Writes to CM

Ranchi: Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi has written a letter to Chief Minister Hemant Soren urging him to ensure a free and fair election process in the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) by preventing administrative interference. The election is scheduled for May 18, with nominations set for May 12 and 13, and withdrawal on May 14.

Concerns Over Administrative Involvement in Election

Marandi highlighted that the election is gradually turning into a display of administrative misuse rather than a democratic sports body election. He alleged that government officers are openly canvassing for certain candidates and misusing their official status, influence, and resources to manipulate the election outcome.

Impact on Sports Integrity

The JSCA is a prestigious sports body of the state, and Marandi emphasized that preserving its integrity is a collective responsibility. He warned that if such interference is not stopped immediately, both the reputation and quality of Jharkhand cricket would be at risk.

History of Power Misuse in JSCA Elections

According to Marandi, previous JSCA elections were also plagued by abuse of power that promoted nepotism, casteism, and regionalism, damaging the morale of deserving players. He added that such control has led to misuse of the association’s assets and resources, with a few individuals holding onto power for years and turning the association into a hub of corruption.

Key Demands Made by Babulal Marandi to the CM:

  • Immediate halt to any misuse of official power, position, or government resources in the election process.

  • Strict action against government officials involved in influencing the outcome of the election.

  • Ensure tight security and law-and-order measures on the voting day so members can cast their votes without fear.

  • The election must be held under the supervision of the Election Commission or a neutral independent agency to guarantee transparency and fairness.
