Palamu: A top Maoist commander, Tulsi Bhuiyan, was killed in an encounter with police in Hussainabad police station area of Palamu district on Tuesday. The police recovered an SLR rifle from the spot. Following the encounter, Palamu SP and CRPF teams rushed to the location for further assessment.
Intelligence tip-off led to high-alert operation
According to officials, police had received intelligence that a group led by wanted Maoist leader Nitesh Yadav—who carries a reward of ₹15 lakh—was plotting a major attack in the area. Acting on this input, security forces launched an extensive search operation.
As the police team approached the suspected hideout, Maoists opened fire, prompting a retaliatory strike. In the ensuing gunbattle, wanted Maoist commander Tulsi Bhuiyan was shot dead.
Area secured, search operation continues
Security personnel are continuing combing operations to locate other members of the Maoist squad who may have fled. Additional forces have been deployed in the region to prevent any retaliatory activity and ensure civilian safety.
