Ranchi: A 60-year-old woman, Parvati Devi, from Lohardaga, who had been battling epilepsy for nearly 20 years, finally found relief after undergoing a complex brain surgery at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi. Despite consulting several doctors over the years, the underlying cause of her seizures remained undiagnosed until recently.
Hidden Tumor Discovered
During Neurological Examination Parvati Devi sought treatment at the outpatient department of neurosurgeon and RIMS Director, Professor (Dr.) Rajkumar. Following detailed examinations and imaging scans, doctors discovered a large tumor in her brain. She was promptly admitted for further investigations and surgical planning.
On Saturday, Dr. Rajkumar and his team performed a four-hour surgery and successfully removed a 200-gram tumor from Parvati Devi’s brain. The tumor was located in a critical area surrounded by vital blood vessels, making the procedure highly risky. However, the surgical team managed to excise the tumor without causing any damage to surrounding tissues.
Patient Recovering Well Post-Surgery
Parvati Devi regained consciousness following the operation, and her condition is now stable. Doctors have expressed optimism that she will make a full recovery soon.
