Ranchi: Jharkhand Congress has strongly reacted to the Supreme Court’s decision in the DGP appointment case, saying it has exposed the baseless allegations made by Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi. State Congress General Secretary Rakesh Sinha said the verdict is a slap on Marandi’s politics of falsehood.
Congress Defends DGP Appointment
Sinha reiterated that from the very beginning, Congress had maintained that the DGP’s appointment was completely legal and made after due cabinet approval. He emphasized that as a former Chief Minister, Babulal Marandi should be well aware that the appointment of the state’s police chief comes under the jurisdiction of the state government.
Accusations Against BJP
The Congress leader accused the BJP of attempting to malign the government by leveling false charges. He further said that a party which has secured power through “vote theft” should first examine its own record before lecturing others on morality. According to him, the BJP, lacking real issues, has made a habit of spreading baseless allegations just to create political unrest.
