Ranchi: During the ongoing monsoon session of the Jharkhand Assembly, several important issues came up for discussion. Former Chief Minister Champai Soren demanded a special voter revision in the state, while Urban Development Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu dismissed objections, calling them mere political stunts.

Call for Special Revision

Champai Soren stressed that after demographic changes in the state, a special voter revision has become essential. Taking aim at political parties opposing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar, he said, “Out of the 35 lakh deleted names, let anyone prove even 35 errors.”

Demand for CBI Probe in Surya Hansda Case

Highlighting the killing of tribal leader Surya Hansda, Soren accused the police of involvement and demanded a CBI probe. He noted that Hansda, who fought for the rights of tribals and natives and defended jal, jungle, zameen (water, forest, land), was murdered in a conspiracy.

RIMS-2 Land Dispute

Soren also backed the announcement to farm on the land earmarked for RIMS-2 in Nagri, terming it a rightful protest. He said the government bypassed rules to erect boundaries on land belonging to tribals and locals.

Government’s Counterpoint

Urban Development Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu defended the project, asserting that RIMS-2 is a genuine public demand. He warned that those opposing it for political mileage would be held accountable by the people.
