New Delhi/Patna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday strongly condemned derogatory remarks allegedly made against his late mother from the stage of an RJD-Congress event in Bihar. Virtually inaugurating the Bihar Rajya Jeevika Nidhi Saakh Sahkari Sangh Limited, Modi said the insult was not just to his mother but to every mother, sister, and daughter of the nation.
Launch of Jeevika Nidhi Saakh Sahkari Sangh
Modi inaugurated the cooperative initiative aimed at empowering women associated with Jeevika across villages in Bihar. Through this platform, women will gain easier access to financial assistance to expand their livelihoods and businesses. On the occasion, he also transferred ₹105 crore into the institution’s account, congratulating CM Nitish Kumar and the NDA government for supporting women’s empowerment.
Sharp Reaction to Alleged Remarks
In his address, Modi said, “Mother is our world, mother is our self-respect. In tradition-rich Bihar, I never imagined what happened a few days ago. From the stage of RJD-Congress, abuses were hurled at my mother. These abuses are not just an insult to my mother, but to all mothers, sisters, and daughters of India.” He added that he could see the pain in the faces of Bihar’s women, equating their anguish with his own.
Personal Pain and Emotional Appeal
The Prime Minister recalled that his late mother, who passed away at the age of 100, had no connection with politics and had sacrificed much so that he could serve millions of other mothers. He said that targeting her memory was deeply painful and unjust. “I can imagine the pain you felt when you heard those words. I have seen tears in some mothers’ eyes—it is very tragic and heartbreaking,” he remarked.
