Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court on Tuesday expressed displeasure over the delay in conducting local body elections in the state. During the hearing of a contempt petition, both the Chief Secretary and the Secretary of Urban Development appeared in person before the court.

Court’s Strong Observation

Justice Anand Sen criticized the state government for failing to initiate the election process on time despite clear court orders. The bench directed the senior officials present to ensure compliance with the earlier directives of the court.

Next Hearing Scheduled

The case, filed through a contempt petition by outgoing councillor Roshni Khalkho, highlighted the government’s inaction in following the court’s instructions. The High Court has scheduled the next detailed hearing for September 10.
