BlackBuck Co-Founder and CEO Rajesh Yabaji has announced that the trucking platform will shift its operations from Bengaluru’s Bellandur Outer Ring Road after nine years, blaming dangerous potholes and long commutes for staff. “Average commute shot up to 1.5+ hours one way, with roads full of potholes and dust,” Yabaji wrote on X, adding there was “lowest intent” to fix the problem and no hope of improvement in five years.

Industry Voices Warn Of Governance Failure

Yabaji’s move sparked sharp reactions across the tech community. Former Infosys CFO Mohandas Pai called it “a big failure of governance in Bengaluru.” Krishna Kumar Gowda, General Secretary of the Greater Bengaluru IT Companies & Industries Association, said firms quitting highlighted an urgent need for a roadmap on roads, metro links and utilities to protect the city’s tech reputation.

Potholes, Protests And Government Promises

Residents described key stretches as “death traps,” with temporary cement patches washing away in rain. Judicial Layout citizens even sent poems about potholes to the PMO. In Jayanagar, people staged protests over dug-up streets and broken footpaths despite promises of “model roads.” Deputy CM D K Shivakumar recently announced ₹1,100 crore for repairs, while civic engineers assured speedy restoration but admitted control over some stretches lies with BWSSB.
