Ranchi: Three professors from the Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ) have achieved prestigious global recognition by securing a place in Stanford University’s list of the world’s top 2% scientists. Published on September 19, 2025, by Elsevier, the report honours Dr. Bhaskar Singh, Dr. Sachin Kumar, and Dr. Arnab Shankar Bhattacharya for their outstanding research contributions.
Academic Achievements Highlighted
Dr. Bhaskar Singh earned a spot in the energy and biotechnology categories for the fifth consecutive year, while Dr. Sachin Kumar was listed for the third time for his work in energy and environmental studies. Dr. Arnab Shankar Bhattacharya made his debut in the list this year in applied physics and materials science. According to Scopus data, Dr. Singh has 110 research publications with 6,535 citations and an H-index of 39. Dr. Kumar has 61 publications with 2,320 citations and an H-index of 22, and Dr. Bhattacharya has 67 publications with 700 citations and an H-index of 16.
CUJ Celebrates Milestone
CUJ Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kshiti Bhushan Das congratulated the trio, stating that their success has brought pride to the university on the global stage. Dean of Research & Development, Prof. Arun Kumar Padhi, explained that the Stanford-Elsevier report analyses 22 broad scientific fields and 174 subfields, ranking scientists based on career-long and annual impact. Currently, Dr. Singh serves as Associate Professor and Head of Environmental Sciences, Dr. Kumar works as Assistant Professor in Energy Engineering, and Dr. Bhattacharya is an Assistant Professor in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering.
