New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday unveiled development projects worth over ₹1.22 lakh crore in Banswara, Rajasthan, with a strong emphasis on nuclear and renewable energy. Among the highlights was the foundation stone for the Mahi Banswara Rajasthan Atomic Power Project, one of India’s largest upcoming nuclear facilities.

Mahi Banswara Nuclear Power Project

The ₹42,000 crore Anushakti Vidhyut Nigam Ltd (ASHVINI) project will feature four 700 MW pressurized heavy water reactors. Designed by NPCIL with advanced safety systems, the reactors will provide steady base load power, bolstering India’s energy security and clean energy ambitions. The project is part of the “fleet mode” strategy, which standardizes construction of ten 700 MW units to cut costs and speed up timelines.

Green Energy Projects Across Rajasthan

Alongside nuclear energy, PM Modi launched renewable energy projects valued at nearly ₹19,210 crore. These include major solar power plants in Phalodi, Jaisalmer, Jalore, Sikar, and a new facility in Bikaner. Collectively, the plants are expected to significantly expand green power generation and reduce millions of tonnes of carbon emissions.

Tributes and Trade Initiatives

Earlier in Banswara, the Prime Minister and Rajasthan chief minister Bhajanlal Sharma paid floral tributes to Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya on his birth anniversary. Modi also inaugurated the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show 2025 at Greater Noida, where over 2,200 exhibitors showcased products and services, highlighting India’s growing trade and entrepreneurial ecosystem.
