Ranchi: The automobile market in Jharkhand’s capital has witnessed a record-breaking surge, with 27,986 vehicles sold in just one month, the highest ever recorded. The sharp rise follows the central government’s recent reduction in GST, which has directly boosted automobile sales across the state.

Record Growth Driven by GST Reduction

Previously, Ranchi’s monthly vehicle sales averaged between 8,000 and 9,000 units, but after the GST cut, the figure more than tripled. According to local automobile dealers, vehicle prices dropped by 5–10 per cent, prompting customers to make quick purchases to avail the reduced rates.

This month alone, 4,726 four-wheelers (cars) and 20,760 two-wheelers (bikes and scooters) were sold. Dealers reported that the festive season—Dhanteras and Diwali—further fueled demand, but the data indicates that the momentum continued even after the celebrations ended.

Dealers See Continued Buyer Enthusiasm

Showroom operators noted that many customers chose to take delivery of pre-booked vehicles during this period to benefit from the lower GST rate. They expect the positive trend to sustain in the coming months if tax incentives and price stability continue.
