New Delhi: The United States has termed the Red Fort car explosion in Delhi as a “clear act of terrorism,” with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio commending India’s handling of the investigation. Rubio said India has been “very measured, cautious, and professional” in its approach to the terror probe that killed at least nine people earlier this week.

Rubio Lauds India’s Response

Speaking to the media, Rubio stated, “The Indians need to be commended. They’ve been very measured and cautious in how they’re carrying out this investigation. It clearly was a terrorist attack—a car loaded with highly explosive materials that detonated and killed a lot of people.”

He added that India was doing “a very good job” and emphasized that the country would release verified facts once the investigation concluded. Rubio also revealed that the US has offered to assist but noted, “India is very capable of these investigations. They don’t need our help, and they are doing a good job.”

India Formally Declares It A Terror Attack

India officially classified the explosion as a “terrorist incident” on Wednesday, confirming it was orchestrated by anti-national forces. The Red Fort blast marks the first major security incident since the April shooting in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam that left 26 civilians dead.

Authorities have linked the attack to Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed, following the arrest of suspects and the seizure of nearly 3,000 kilograms of explosives and assault rifles.

Diplomatic Reactions And Bilateral Talks

Rubio and Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar discussed the blast on the sidelines of the G7 Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Canada. Rubio offered condolences and acknowledged India’s capability to handle the investigation independently. Their talks also covered bilateral cooperation and global security challenges.

India’s Security Response

Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level meeting following the attack, directing agencies to “hunt down each and every culprit” involved. “Everyone responsible will face the full wrath of our agencies,” Shah declared, reaffirming the government’s commitment to ensuring national security.
