Giridih: On the occasion of Jharkhand’s Silver Jubilee Foundation Day, a grand celebration was organised on Saturday at the historic Jhanda Maidan in Giridih, highlighting the state’s rich cultural heritage. Urban Development Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu attended as the chief guest, while Rajya Sabha MP Dr Sarfaraz Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner Ramniwas Yadav, Superintendent of Police Dr Bilam Kumar, JMM District President Sanjay Kumar Singh, former MLA Kedar Hajra, and several district officials and public representatives also participated in the event.
Cultural Performances and Felicitations
The programme began with a patriotic welcome song performed by schoolgirls, setting a tone of pride and celebration. The event featured cultural performances depicting Jharkhand’s traditions, followed by the felicitation of freedom fighters, movement participants, and outstanding students from various schools across the district. The Jhanda Maidan was beautifully decorated, representing the state’s tribal identity, art, and cultural vibrancy.
Minister Highlights Jharkhand’s Progress
Addressing the gathering, Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu recalled that Jharkhand’s creation was the result of a long struggle and the sacrifices of thousands of people. He paid tribute to the vision of Dishom Guru Shibu Soren and the tireless efforts of statehood activists that led to the formation of Jharkhand on November 15, 2000.
The minister noted that Jharkhand, now entering its 25th year, has made remarkable progress in education, healthcare, infrastructure, industry, and rural development. He highlighted the welfare initiatives under Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s leadership, urging citizens to actively contribute to the state’s growth and preserve its cultural roots.
