Jharkhand To Build Self-Reliant Power Supply System With ₹8,205.24 Crore Plan

Ranchi: Jharkhand is set to upgrade and expand its power transmission network to become fully self-dependent, reducing reliance on PGIL and DVC lines. The state government has prepared a comprehensive plan to build 4,069 circuit kilometres of new transmission lines and strengthen its power infrastructure.

Major Expansion Under 2034-35 Power Action Plan

To meet electricity demand projected for 2034–35, the state will enhance the capacity of power substations to 20,420 MVA. A total investment of ₹8,205.24 crore has been approved to modernise, expand, and stabilise Jharkhand’s power supply system, ensuring efficient and uninterrupted distribution across all districts.

30 New Power Substations To Be Constructed Across State

As part of the expansion, 30 new power substations will be established in Amrapara, Barhet, Barharwa, Daltonganj, Lalmatia, Nowamundi, Rajmahal, Sahibganj, Chas, Chitra, CKP-New, Dhalbhumgarh, Deoghar, Garhwa, Gumla, Jadugoda, Jamtara, Japla, Kendposi, Kolebira, Kundahit, Mahuda, Rajkharsawan, Sarath, Silli, Simdega, Ghato, Binod Bihari Chowk (Dhanbad), and two stations at Maithon. This infrastructure push is expected to significantly reduce wheeling charges and strengthen Jharkhand’s independent power transmission capabilities.
