Ranchi: A major administrative development is underway in Jharkhand, as 19 officers of the State Administrative Service are set to be promoted to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), with the state government preparing to forward the required names to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) by December 20.
57 Names to Be Recommended Against 19 Vacancies
As per established rules, three names are recommended for each vacant IAS post. Accordingly, a list of 57 eligible state service officers will be sent to UPSC against 19 available vacancies. These promotions will be considered against the IAS vacancies for the year 2024.
Jharkhand Officers Lagging Behind Other States
State Administrative Service officers in Jharkhand have been trailing their counterparts from other states in securing IAS promotions. Officers from Gujarat, Kerala, West Bengal, Odisha, and Himachal Pradesh have already received promotions between February and May this year, while Jharkhand’s process has taken longer.
