Jharkhand Pushes Major Upgrade in Higher and Technical Education Infrastructure

Ranchi: The Jharkhand government has initiated a comprehensive drive to strengthen higher and technical education infrastructure, with plans to establish new science centres, degree colleges, women’s colleges and polytechnic institutions across the state.

Expansion of Technical and Women’s Education Facilities

As part of the initiative, new government polytechnic institutes and women’s colleges will be set up. A government polytechnic in Jayanagar, Koderma, will be constructed at a cost of ₹39.05 crore. The focus is on improving access to technical education and expanding opportunities for women through dedicated institutions.

New Degree Colleges and Research Facilities in Hazaribagh

Hazaribagh district will see significant development with the establishment of two new degree colleges. A degree college in Chauparan will be built at a cost of ₹37.85 crore, while another in Barkagaon will be constructed for ₹33.85 crore. In addition, a Research and Development Incubation Centre will be set up at Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribagh, with an investment of ₹54.30 crore. An administrative building at RNYM College, Barhi, will also be constructed at a cost of ₹5 crore.

₹412 Crore Investment Across 17 Projects

The Higher and Technical Education Department will spend a total of ₹412 crore across 17 schemes focused on infrastructure development, including degree colleges, women’s colleges, science centres and administrative buildings. These projects aim to modernise educational facilities and improve academic and research capacity statewide.

Detailed Allocation Across Districts

Key allocations include infrastructure development at RS More College under Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University, Dhanbad (₹1.51 crore), development of polytechnic, ITI and SSLNT infrastructure in Dhanbad (₹4.88 crore), Jamshhedpur Cooperative Law College infrastructure upgrade (₹31.36 crore), degree college construction in Musabani, East Singhbhum (₹39.09 crore), professional course buildings in Chaibasa (₹19.86 crore), innovation and science centre at Jagannathpur Polytechnic (₹2.82 crore), new building for Dumka Government Women’s Polytechnic (₹41.64 crore), degree college in Margomunda, Deoghar (₹33.10 crore), district science centre in Hazaribagh (₹12.29 crore), administrative building at Simdega College (₹5.56 crore), new women’s college in Bokaro (₹39.34 crore), and district science centre in Bokaro (₹39.09 crore).
