Ranchi: Tech Mahindra has expressed strong interest in investing in artificial intelligence, data centers, and emerging technologies in Jharkhand, following detailed discussions with Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Kalpana Murmu Soren, and the state’s official delegation.
Proposal to Strengthen Jharkhand’s Digital Ecosystem
During a meeting at the Tech Mahindra Lounge, Shahil Dhawan, Head and President of the IAMEA Division at Tech Mahindra, held in-depth discussions with the Jharkhand delegation on strengthening the state’s IT and digital ecosystem. The company proposed investments in AI-driven solutions, data centers, and other emerging technologies, citing Jharkhand’s potential to become an energy-surplus state as a key advantage for such infrastructure.
Focus on Advanced Energy Solutions for Data Centers
Tech Mahindra highlighted that AI platforms and large-scale data centers require significant and reliable energy resources. The company proposed collaboration with the Jharkhand government on advanced energy solutions, including underground energy storage systems, to support future-ready digital infrastructure in the state.
IT Park and Global Capability Center Plans
The company showed interest in becoming a strategic partner in strengthening the framework of the proposed IT Park in Jharkhand. Additionally, Tech Mahindra expressed a positive outlook toward setting up a Global Capability Center (GCC) in the state. Such a center would handle global operations across IT services, research and development, mining research, finance, customer service, and digital innovation, leveraging local talent and positioning Jharkhand on the global technology map.
Skill Development and Employment-Oriented Training
Tech Mahindra also proposed collaboration with the state government on skill development, higher education, scholarships, and employment-oriented training programs for Jharkhand’s youth, both within and outside the state. Chief Minister Hemant Soren urged the company to support the modernization of ITIs in Jharkhand to make them more market- and employment-oriented, emphasizing the importance of strong industry-academia partnerships in preparing youth for future workforce demands.

The meeting was seen as a significant step toward establishing Jharkhand as a leading state in IT, digital innovation, investment, and employment generation, with long-term benefits for the state’s economy and youth.
