Ranchi: The Supreme Court has ordered Bimal Agarwal to surrender before the investigating agency within two weeks in connection with the Tetulia land scam. The directive came after the apex court dismissed his plea seeking relief.
Top Court Rejects Plea, Sets Two-Week Deadline
A bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi rejected Agarwal’s petition and instructed him to appear before the CID, which is probing the case. The court further clarified that once the accused surrenders and files a regular bail application, the competent court should consider it independently, without being influenced by earlier observations.
Following the order, surrendering before the CID remains the only available legal course for Bimal Agarwal.
Details Of The Alleged Land Deal
During the investigation, it was found that Rajbir Construction allegedly paid ₹4 crore to Umayush Multicom for purchasing land. Subsequently, Umayush Multicom, linked to Shailesh Singh, reportedly acquired 74.38 acres of land from Izhar Hussain and Akhtar Hussain for ₹10.30 crore.
The company, formed with a share capital of just ₹1 lakh, purchased the land within two months of its incorporation. The circle rate valuation of the land has been estimated at ₹23.13 crore, raising questions about financial irregularities.
The Tetulia land scam has seen multiple legal proceedings involving various accused persons, with courts examining allegations related to undervaluation and irregular transactions.
