Actress Yami Gautam has responded to a social media controversy after she reportedly liked a reel that was seen as trolling fellow actor Kriti Sanon. The incident triggered debate among fans of both actresses, prompting Yami to clarify that the action was unintentional.
Controversy Began After Award Event
The controversy surfaced after Kriti Sanon won the Best Actress award for the film Tere Ishq Mein at the Zee Cine Awards. Yami Gautam’s performance in the film Haq had also received strong appreciation, and some social media users argued that the award should have gone to her instead.
Amid the debate, a reel circulating online comparing the two actresses claimed to criticise Kriti Sanon while showing an old video of Yami Gautam. The issue escalated when Yami’s account appeared to have liked the reel.
Yami Gautam Issues Public Clarification
Responding to the backlash, Yami Gautam took to social media platform X and said the like was not intentional. She explained that actors are tagged in numerous posts every day, and the reel may have appeared among those tags.
She stated that if the reel was liked from her account, it must have been an accidental click and was not meant to insult or demean another actor.
Rejects Use Of PR Tactics
Yami also emphasised that she has never relied on cheap publicity strategies during her career and has always focused on her work. She added that she does not have a public relations team and had earlier made her position clear regarding entertainment award shows.
According to the actress, in today’s era of clickbait content, small incidents are often exaggerated, but she believes her reputation has been built through consistent work and dedication.
Upcoming Projects
On the work front, Yami Gautam was last seen in the film Haq, which released in November 2025 and featured Emraan Hashmi alongside her. Reports also suggest that she may appear in a cameo role in the upcoming film Dhurandhar 2, directed by her husband Aditya Dhar, which is scheduled to release on March 19.
